Internship Position
The ICE Cubes Service is looking for an Intern with a background in economics, business analysis, or strategy, to support the development and consolidation of business plans and market positioning activities for space-based R&D services.
The internship will focus on the assessment and maturation of commercial opportunities linked to the ICE Cubes Service R&D activities, particularly in the domains of life and physical sciences. The Intern will contribute to analysing how research performed in space can translate into tangible benefits and applications for terrestrial markets, leveraging the ICE Cubes Service’s modular in-orbit capabilities and its comprehensive end-to-end service offering.
The internship will take place within the International Commercial Experiment Cubes (ICE Cubes) Strategic Business Unit, a small and dynamic team dedicated to the commercial development of in-orbit R&D services.
The Intern will report to the ICE Cubes Strategic Unit Lead and work closely with both technical and business development teams, gaining exposure to multidisciplinary activities at the intersection of space, innovation, and commercial strategy.
Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
Duration: 3 to 6 months
Start date: As soon as possible.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Intern will contribute to:
Development and refinement of business plans and financial models for in-orbit services
Analysis of market opportunities, customer segments, and value propositions across different industries (e.g., research, industry, technology)
Support to go-to-market strategies and commercial positioning of ICE Cubes capabilities
Assessment of pricing models, revenue streams, and service offerings (e.g., service-based, CRO/CMO-like models)
Competitive analysis and benchmarking against other actors in the commercial LEO ecosystem
Contribution to strategic planning and roadmap definition for future ICE Cubes services and platforms.
Skills and Experience
Background in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or related fields
Exposure to innovation-driven sectors (e.g., space, technology, life sciences, or engineering-related industries)
Familiarity with concepts such as business plans, pricing models, and revenue streams
Interest in commercial space activities or the “New Space” ecosystem is considered a strong advantage
Strong analytical abilities, with experience in economic assessment, financial modelling, or business case development
Knowledge of market analysis, value proposition definition, and go-to-market strategies
Ability to structure and synthesize complex information into clear business insights and reports
Proficiency in Excel / data analysis tools; familiarity with basic financial modelling is an asset
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
