Internship Position
As the ICE Cubes Service grows and manages an increasing number of payloads and missions, consistent and effective communication is essential to ensure visibility and understanding of its activities. The service engages with diverse audiences, requiring clear translation of complex scientific and technical work.
This internship supports the day to day communication and media activities of the ICE Cubes Service, contributing to content creation, outreach, and promotional efforts. The role provides practical experience in science communication within the space sector, aligned with an active and evolving microgravity research portfolio.
Location: Noordwijk (The Netherlands)
Duration: 3 to 6 months
Start date: As soon as possible
Tasks and Responsibilities
The intern will support Communication & Media activities of the ICE Cubes Service, including:
Supporting website, social media, and newsletter content creation (editorial text and visual assets related to missions, experiments, and service milestones)
Preparing communication and media materials such as presentations, brochures, factsheets, and digital assets for outreach and promotion
Assisting in the execution of marketing and communication campaigns linked to ICE Cubes activities and achievements
Supporting the coordination and preparation for promotional events and conferences, including communication material and logistical support
Contributing to the evolution of the ICE Cubes branding, messaging, and marketing strategy, ensuring consistency across channels
Collaborating with engineers and scientists to gather information and ensure technical accuracy of communication outputs.
Skills and Experience
Enrolment in at least the third year of a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s programme in Science Education & Communication, Science & Technology Journalism, Engineering or Scientific disciplines, Digital Communications, Media Management, Marketing & Business, or a related field.
Experience with digital communication and marketing tools (e.g. content management systems, social media platforms).
Capability to independently produce high-quality visual content (e.g., slides, graphics, infographics) using Canva, applying consistent visual style and branding principles.
Strong written communication skills, with experience creating concise and professional content for platforms such as LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and scientific communication.
Comfortable working with technical, scientific, and space related topics, with a strong interest in science communication.
Proactive, flexible, and hands on mindset, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong organizational and teamwork skills, with clear and effective communication.
Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to write in a clear, structured, and formal style and to summarize complex information accurately.
