SpaceApps at the 74th International Astronautical Congress

25/09/23

Meet our SpaceApps stars at the 74th International Astronautical Congress in Baku from 2- 6 October 2023.

  • The People

Curious about doing research in microgravity, and all the benefits that comes with it? Ever wondered how the Moon in its vastness can be used as a base to build a thriving Lunar economy? Intrigued by Mission Control, utilising platforms in LEO or working with astronauts? 👩🏼‍🚀

A selection of our SpaceApps luminaries will be in attendance at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 2nd to October 6th, 2023. This is a golden opportunity to engage in enlightening discussions with our experts. You can schedule a meeting with our ICE Cubes Service Business Developer, have a tête-à-tête with our Team Lead for Future Projects & Exploration, or gain insights from one of our Operations Engineers. For further details please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@spaceapplications.com.

    The Papers

One of the papers to be presented by the Team Lead of the FPX Team will outline exciting findings on SKYBEAM, a study that investigates the assembly, using European technology, of the kilometer-scale in-space systems required to revolutionise Earth’s energy harnessing solar power directly from space. SOLARIS is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) new initiative for enabling the future of sustainable energy from Space by exploring the feasibility of building a Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP) station in Earth’s orbit. SKYBEAM, is a precursor to SOLARIS funded by ESA’s Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP). Unlike terrestrial solar plants, which are limited by atmospheric losses and day-night cycles, SBSP can provide constant, clean energy.
