About the ATLANTIS Project
The ATLANTIS project sets a new benchmark with its pioneering pilot infrastructure, the “ATLANTIS Test Center,” located in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. This large-scale facility operates in the real conditions of the Atlantic Ocean, providing an invaluable platform for testing advanced robotic technologies designed for the inspection and maintenance of offshore wind farms.
ATLANTIS addresses the need for early access to such pilot infrastructures for medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), R&D institutions, and energy operators. By enabling the validation of innovative and high-potential technological solutions, the project aims to drive progress in key market sectors and support blue growth.
SpaceApps’ Role in this Project
Space Applications Services’ SA/NV (SpaceApps – Belgium) contribution to the ATLANTIS project involves the development of the Supervisory Control Centre, a sophisticated system that enhances mission planning and monitoring for robotic platforms. This technology is crucial for operating in the demanding environment of offshore wind farms, ensuring efficiency and reliability. Our innovation has been recognized as “Business Ready,” reflecting its immediate applicability and impact on the market.
Being acknowledged by the Innovation Radar underscores SpaceApps’ commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies for extreme environments. This recognition validates our efforts in advancing solutions that tackle complex challenges in harsh environments such as Space or the Oceans.
