Following the successful completion of 12 months training for ESA’s new astronaut class in 2024, we are proud to announce that on 2 September 2025 began the second phase of the ESA Astronaut Reserve Corps training. This marks another important milestone in our ongoing partnership with ESA and our commitment to advancing human spaceflight.
The training programme that we coordinate includes:
- Fundamentals of Space Engineering: spacecraft subsystems, flight dynamics, and space law
- International Space Station Overview: mission operations, subsystems, and payloads
- Human Performance: anatomy, physiology, adaptation to space environments, and post-mission reconditioning
In addition to theoretical courses, trainees will gain practical experience through:
- Parabolic Flights to experience weightlessness
- Sea Survival and Firefighting Training
- Neutral Buoyancy Facility Sessions for EVA preparation
- Photo and Video Skills essential for mission documentation
This new phase of astronaut training underscores our continued growth, innovation, and active role in shaping the future of human spaceflight.
