Internship Position
We are looking for two interns to deal with the design and development of our innovative space robotics applications (in-orbit and planetary), in challenging ESA and European Commission funded projects.
These projects cover currently the following topics:
Active space mechanisms and their integration in robotics systems
Space actuators and robotics manipulators for on-orbit servicing
The Internship is available at the Robotics Mechanisms & Structure (RMS) Team (Systems Department). The candidate will mainly report to the RMS Team Lead.
Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
Duration: 6 months
Start date: Q1 2026
Tasks and Responsibilities
Familiarise with:
The objectives, use-cases, scope and requirements
Existing mechanisms and developments
Conduct in-depth mechatronic analysis, focusing on the system architecture and kinematics
Design systems and sub-systems
Prototype and test concepts
Collaborate with cross-functional Teams, including robotics hardware and software engineers
Share and document progress, challenges, and solutions to the Team.
Skills and Experience
Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Robotics Engineering or a similar University program
Specialization in mechatronics system design or mechanisms design is an asset
Good knowledge of system synthesis and system modelling
Proficient with CAD software (preferably Solidworks)
Good knowledge of machine components, sizing, tolerances, manufacturing process, materials and treatments
Good understanding of mechanical simulation and analyses
Strength to self-disciplined and work ethic
Creative, autonomous and rigorous mindset
Good written and spoken English.
