General profile required for applying to the S&GS Group:

Education profile:

MSc or PhD from a university or high school with orientation in: 

  • Aerospace Engineering;
  • Space Sciences;
  • Earth Observation/GIS;
  • Virtual/Augmented Reality;
  • Robotics;
  • Software Engineering.

Experience:

Experience in one of the following domains and subdomains: 

  • Missions Analysis and Simulation: 
    • Rendezvous and docking analysis;
    • Launch and re-entry;
    • Lunar and Mars orbit transfers;
    • Satellite swarms;
    • Formation flying.
  •  Ground Segment Facilities Design:
    • Mission Control Systems (e.g. SCOS-2000);
    • Mission Information Databases;
    • Automation Frameworks;
    • Planning and Scheduling tools;
    • Mission Data Processors;
    • Products Archiving Systems;
    • Ground Stations Equipment;
    • Electrical Ground Support Equipment.
  •  Spacecraft Systems Design:
    • GNC/AOC Subsystems;
    • Data Management Subsystem;
    • Communications Subsystem;
    • Spacecraft Bus technology;
    • Crew HMI and Avionics Subsystem;
    • Ergonomy and Situational Awareness.
  •  Virtual/Augmented Reality:
    • Games/Animation Applications;
    • Aerospace/Automotive Applications;
    • Embedded Devices (PDAs, Smartphones) Applications;
    • Scripting tools;
    • Simulation tools.
  •  Robotic Systems Design:
    • Mobile Robots;
    • Base Stations;
    • Human Robot Interactions (HRI);
    • Sensors;
    • SLAM techniques;
    • Path/Motion Planning;
    • Machine Learning;
    • Stereovision;
    • Exoskeletons;
    • Haptics.
  •  Software Engineering:
    • Object Oriented Design;

    • Technical Documents Production (Specifcations, Architecture Design,Test Plans, Software User Manuels, etc.);

  • MATLAB/SIMULINK;
  • MODELLICA;
  • EUROSIM;
  • STK;
  • Player/Stage;
  • Microsoft Robotics Studio;
  • Physics/Rigid Body Dynamics Modelling Engines (e.g. ODE);
  • CAD Tools (e.g. SOLIDEDGE, SOLIDWORKS);
  • 3D Modelling Tools (e.g. MAYA, 3DStudioMax, Blender);
  • Service Oriented Architecture (e.g. ServiceMix);
  • Unified Modelling Language (UML);
  • Programming Languages and Tools ( C, C++, C#, Java, XML-related 
  • Technology, Python, embedded SQL);
  • Graphics Libraries and Toolkits (e.g. OpenGL, GLStudio, VAPS);
  • Embedded Devices Programming Tools.

Preference will be given to candidates with a previous internship or employment in the industry or a space agency.
